Services
Mastering
Modern mastering is a nuanced discipline and every client has differing expectations. Since the birth of record production, loudness has been an important factor in the mastering process. The recent advent of loudness normalized streaming services has lessened the importance of super loud masters for some, but for many artists for example creating music for performance in nightclubs, competitive loudness is still ultra-important. The constant with all music mastered at Increase Audio is a feeling of completion, balance and wherever possible enhanced sonic texture. Whatever the most important considerations each job, care is taken to make sure every aspect of each job is managed to the customers satisfaction and beyond.
Mixing
The art of mixing music could be described as equal parts technique and emotion. While predominantly a technical discipline, the delicate art of balancing musical elements has an enormous impact on the feeling of a piece of music. As such every mix decision needs to be made in consideration of the artists intent. Practical considerations such as intended playback environments and formats play a huge part in how a song should be mixed. At Increase Audio, before a project begins care is taken to ensure that that engineer has an understanding of not just the genre norms, but the vision of the creator of each piece.
Creative Music Production
Before his career as a Mastering & Mixing engineer, John Clayton was known to many as ‘Hooves’ bass music producer and session drummer. See the biography section in this website. Since then John has produced music for Didgeridoo virtuoso Ganga Giri as well as up and coming electric soul sensation Aishah Espinosa. John brings the same care and attention to detail to his original productions that he does to engineering his clients’ creations. With a creative style rooted in the dancefloor experience, John’s creations are driven by emotion, energy, groove and impact. While his own work is predominantly electronic John has a great deal of experience working in live formats in his many rhythm section roles.
Recording
While primarily a music production facility, Increase Audio also features a solo isolation booth. With a selection of hand-made microphones from Mark Chierego at OPR Melbourne, class A Preamps from Buzz Audio New Zealand and a fully featured headphone monitoring and talkback system, recording and overdubs can be captured with the highest precision.
